Does "Javier's path" mean just choosing Javier's plan at the power plant? And not actually a romance path with Javier? Is Rou the only romance?
And is Lawrence knocking on the hotel door the current end of content available?
I'm enjoying it! The writing is good and I like Rou and Javier, however the other characters like David and Monti definitely stick to their tropes a bit too much...
Also seeing that Build 9 will have an ending for Javier's path seems like it will not clear up a lot of stuff... Unless it will be a "bad" end that ends abruptly.
I'm genuinely just asking if I had reached the last of the available content, none of my comment was meant to rush them.
And if I am understanding "Javier's Route" correctly or not. Since usually "route" suggests romance for most VNs, but it currently still seems to primarily focus on Theo's feelings for Rou. If Rou is the only romance and Javier's "route" is more so to do with Javier's way of investigating, that is also fine. I'm just trying to find out information.
Can there please be a setting to disable dialogue interrupts? Half the time Javier talks the game speeds past half the lines when he explains things assuming I don't want to read them.
Well I will keep spoiler free review because I think is a story worth reading by yourself and taking notes.
First of all I the things I want to start praising is the presentation of the VN, the visuals are unique and beautiful, the art is very geometric and is very impressive how it can tell a lot of about the characters without you even reading them saying anything, their design, body language and expressions really match well making them feel alive. Next is on the tracks used for it, they fit the mood and no song feels out of place or too much distracting is the right combination but one minor gripe I have is that sometimes it's a bit too low to hear it.
Now on the writing, I will not lie to you reading this, is a amazingly written, the pace of story is always keep you on the edge of your sit and you can never predict what is going to happen next, it's a good mystery VN to match ones like Zero Escape or Hotel Dusk however the story is complicated in a very good way, is easy to lose yourself and reread part but the team is smart enough to let the player catch up with the story and understand what is going on, I would recommend making notes if you reading this are into it because it pays off very well.
To the team behind Rain Check: You guys have all my admiration for the work you people are making and I plan to support it and I want to see it flourish and get the recognition it deserves, I cannot overstate how much this story means to me now and I wholehearted want to see where it goes. Also what happened to the snow leopard cat, I think I have some blury memory about him after Rou asking him about Blackout.

Just gonna point out tho theres a bunch of “i cant remember” happening in the case report (quickstart), especially since its written by rou so clearly hes gonna be fine but STILL, cliffhanger got me mad ;-;
I didn't really like Javier in the beginning, I only liked Rou (because hot wolf) and Theodore I guess cuz he is cute, but the latest update I realized how charming and dorky he is and now Javier is my favorite, I still think Rou is hot af though
So I finally have time to read this VN again after 1.0 and I gotta say, I really like the changes done to the beginning. Less is more, the reduced inner dialogue and descriptions made the story felt less draggy, especially for an interaction-heavy VN. Imo, details should only be described when necessary, most of the environmental stuff should already be visible on screen so it would be redundant to visualize them through text. Focusing more on the story flow is one of the reasons why I love VNs like Lagoon Lounge, Knight's College, Chardonnay Romancia, etc.
Here's a few things that I noticed after finishing the current newest build(5.0):
1. When getting interrogated by the polar bear right after the cat fight, I feel like there's too much sentences used just to get the "I struggle to come up with words" message across. The same goes for the small interaction before reaching the bar after leaving the lounge, the back and forth between the MC and Rou along with MC's inner dialogues felt a little excessive here when the whole conversation doesn't contribute much to the story.
I feel like this is due to being immediately after 1.0 where the writing style remains unchanged. After that though, the story starts to flow much smoother and became more engaging.
2. This is a very small detail, after the MC woke up in Rou's room there is a CG, and during this CG Rou revealed that he used to be a bodyguard. In this instance it should be the second time that Rou said that he's a bodyguard (the first is during Rou comforting the MC) yet the MC reacted ("huh, really?") like he just heard it for the first time. Nothing big, just felt a little weird upon reading it.
3. Another small detail. During the power plant investigation, Javier told the MC that he directs the security cameras to another channel when doing so at the very first camera. Yet a few instances later the MC assumes Javier is turning them offline and asks about it, making Javier explain again. Again not significant, just a little weird.
Overall a very good and interesting read, the climax(this could mean in both ways~) moments are executed expertly and not applied too frequently(I do not like being constantly kept on my toes). While there are a few segments that could use more refinement, I really like the balance between interaction and inner dialogue used in the newer changes. Keep up the fantastic work, I'll be looking forward for more.
Some extra comments:
Rou's facing forward face still gives me uncanny valley vibes, but at the same time it's also funni, so... eh.
The Halloween extra is nicely written, too bad I do not like horror, especially jump scares.
I hope on the next build they adjust the save system and add more save bars for me to use cause 20 save bars aint enough for multiple parts of the stories that is interesting to reread. Love the vn btw!
Just wondering if i have to update the game, I downloaded it on Bluestacks, is there any way to save your progress? or do i just have to replace the app with the updated version and nothing will happen, other than that i really loved this game definitely rou, he's such a strict yet softie dude.
You can install the new APK , it should ask if you want to upgrade and that's it. If for some reason you lose your data, you can use the chapter select found in the extras.
